September in the black, stable results in cinemas after three quarters
The end of September, and thus the end of the third quarter, brought 35 million tickets sold. This attendance is comparable to last year. The last quarter is ahead of us, with nearly 100 premieres and several blockbusters with a very large audience forecast.
This year, seven films have already exceeded the threshold of 1 million tickets sold. Among them is the September Polish production Teściowie 3 (The In-Laws 3). It is the most popular Polish film of the year, with an audience of nearly 1.3 million viewers, and has also recorded the highest result in the history of the series. This year's episode of the christening on the big screen attracted three times more viewers than the first part about the wedding😊
Another film genre also reigned supreme in September. The horror film The Conjuring 4: The Last Rites recorded high opening results and overall attendance at a high level, close to 900,000 viewers. It is the most-watched horror film of the year so far.

The 50th FPFF in Gdynia – once again!
September is also a big month for Polish cinema. We're still thinking about the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, where we got to see the premieres of some major Polish productions. These films will soon be available in theaters nationwide.
Here is our subjective, post-festival selection of films that cannot be overlooked in the coming months:
LARP. Love, Trolls, and Other Quests
Premiere: October 17
Comedy, adventure. A treat for fans of the TV series “1670.” Now, director Kordian Kądziela, with his characteristic lightness and sense of humor, brings to the big screen a funny story about growing up, first love, and the unusual, escapist hobby of a teenage technical school student.
Franz Kafka
Premiere: October 24
The stylistically bold world of a literary icon as seen by Agnieszka Holland. The film shows the most important moments in the author's life. The film received the “SILVER LIONS” awards at the 50th Polish Feature Film Festival for cinematography, makeup, and the leading male role (strikingly reminiscent of the writer's title character known from photographs), played by Idan Weiss.
Dom Dobry (The Good House)
Premiere: November 7
Wojciech Smarzowski's work moves, shocks, and leaves no one indifferent. The director is known for his courage in tackling uncomfortable, taboo social issues. His latest film is no different. It is a story about domestic violence, described by critics as a film “without anesthesia.” Excellent performances by Agata Turkot, Tomasz Schuchardt, and Agata Kulesza.
Ministranci (Altar Boys)
Premiere: November 21
Don't be fooled by the title – this is not just a story about the church, which is only a backdrop to the story of boys who decided to do good. Screenwriter and director Paweł Domagała takes us on a journey full of twists and turns and touching moments that prove that the hardest thing is to take care of what we have next to us, i.e., our family. The filmmakers left Gdynia with an armful of awards: for screenplay, for editing, the Audience Award, and the GRAND PRIZE of the 50th Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia, the “GOLDEN LIONS.”
See you at the movies!
